FAQs
Is the QR code generated on your server?
No — the QR code is encoded entirely in your browser using a JavaScript QR library. Nothing you type is uploaded, which matters if you're encoding something private like a Wi-Fi password or an internal URL.
What does the error correction level do?
QR codes can tolerate a percentage of damage or obstruction (like a logo placed over the middle) and still scan correctly. Low (L) survives about 7% damage, Medium (M) about 15%, Quartile (Q) about 25%, and High (H) about 30% — but higher levels also produce a denser, more detailed code for the same content.
PNG or SVG — which should I download?
SVG is vector-based, so it stays perfectly sharp at any print size (business cards, posters) and has a smaller file size for simple codes. PNG is a fixed-resolution raster image, which is usually fine for screens and most everyday use, and is more universally supported by tools that don't accept SVG.
Is there a limit to how much text I can encode?
Yes — this tool accepts up to 2,000 characters. In practice, keep it much shorter: a long payload produces a very dense, harder-to-scan code. For long content, encode a short URL that points to the full content instead.
